Dysphagia is the medical term for difficulty swallowing. With dysphagia you may struggle to swallow food, liquid, or saliva. This can make it hard for you to take in the needed calories and fluids to nourish your body. Dysphagia can affect people of all ages, but it is most common among older adults.

Cognitive-communication disorders may result from traumatic brain injury (TBI), stroke, or other neurological conditions (Parkinson’s, neurodegenerative disorders, dementia etc.) and can affect attention, memory, problem-solving, and language skills.

Motor speech disorders affect the ability to plan, coordinate, and carry out the movements needed for clear speech. This may include Apraxia of Speech, which impacts motor planning for speech, or Dysarthria, which results from weakness or reduced coordination of the muscles used for speaking.
